2 February 2023 – Taipei, Taiwan: Over the course of two days, from 17-18 January, an international panel of experts in the field of bicycles and design took part in intense discussions to select 46 submissions as winners of the TAIPEI CYCLE d&i awards 2023. The seven most outstanding submission(s) were honored with a special prize – the TAIPEI CYCLE 2023 Gold Award. Among them, one company will receive the Gold Award - Young Enterprise and one product will be awarded with the new Gold Award - Green Prize, awarded for their exceptional green product development performance. These award-winning products reflect the current status and future trends of the bicycle industry.
Nearly 140 submissions from 12 countries participated in this year’s TAIPEI CYCLE d&i awards. The number of participants shows a significant increase of 14.5%, compared to last year. This provides evidence that the bicycle industry is recovering and continues to invest in product research, development and innovation, even after the pandemic. The jury members perceived that the changes in daily life caused by the pandemic have promoted the development of innovative designs suitable for these new normal lifestyles. To align with the global trends in sustainability, for the first time in the history of the awards, the Gold Award - Green Prize will be given to products that incorporate the 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) into their design, manufacturing, materials, and usage processes. This year there were 23 products competing within this category, which hopes to encourage products to integrate sustainable elements while pursuing market value in international businesses.
The international jury panel was composed of the following members.
